|
Walter Tavares once again lifted Real Madrid to a 78-85 road win over Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade in Game 4 of the 2023 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs, which tied the series at 2-2 on Thursday night and saw the big man earn his second MVP of the Round accolade this week. Tavares scored 15 points, making 4-of-7 two-point shots and 7-of-8 free throws, while he also pulled down 7 rebounds, including 4 on the offensive glass, and had 2 steals and 2 blocks for a PIR of 30, the highest of any player in Game 4. With his Game 4 MVP, Tavares became the first player to secure MVP honors in back-to-back playoff games since his former teammate and 2018 EuroLeague MVP Luka Doncic did so in Games 3 and 4 in 2017. This is Tavares's third MVP of the Round award this season and the sixth in his career.
Game 4's second-best PIR is shared by two players, Partizan's Zach LeDay and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv's Lorenzo Brown, who each had a rating of 25. LeDay scored 25 points on 12-for-14 two-point shooting and also grabbed 3 rebounds in a loss against Real, while Brown collected 22 points on 6-for-8 three-point shooting, in addition to recording 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds in a 104-69 win over AS Monaco. Olympiacos Piraeus guard Shaquielle McKissic had a 23 PIR in his side's road loss at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, as he amassed 20 points and 5 rebounds. Rounding out the list of best Game 4 performers is Brown's teammate, Wade Baldwin, as he had 19 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal for a PIR of 21.
