Turkish Airlines EuroLeague RS - Round 14 MVP: Vassilis Spanoulis, Olympiacos Piraeus

A Turkish Airlines EuroLeague legend proved his greatness once again, as Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos Piraeus reached Regular Season Round 14 MVP honors. Spanoulis not only led Olympiacos to a convincing 98-77 win against Herbalife Gran Canaria, but also finished the game with a performance index rating of 31, the best in Round 14. Spanoulis came off the bench to score 21 points in as many minutes, hitting 3-of-4 two-point shots, 4-of-5 three-pointers and 3-of-3 free throws. He added 4 rebounds, 8 assists, a steal and 3 fouls drawn. Spanoulis became the second Olympiacos player to earn MVP honors this week – Nikola Milutinov was the Round 13 MVP with a PIR of 36 in a win against FC Barcelona Lassa. Spanoulis, a three-time Final Four MVP, was chosen as a MVP of the Round for the eighth time in his career, tying for third place with Ioannis Bourousis and Luka Doncic in the all-time standings. Mirsad Turkcan was MVP of the Round 10 times and Nando De Colo leads the all-time standings at 13. This week, De Colo nearly had another as he led CSKA Moscow to a 102-84 home win against Anadolu Efes Istanbul with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals, good for a PIR of 30. Jan Vesely of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul had a PIR of 29 in his team's 65-89 road win against Buducnost VOLI Podgorica. He had 19 points on 9-of-12 two-point shots, 9 rebounds and 3 steals off the bench. Arturas Gudaitis of AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan (28 PIR) and Will Clyburn of CSKA (26) complete the top individual performances in Round 14.

Nick Calathes of Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, Rodrigue Beaubois of Efes and CSKA’s Will Clyburn were this round’s top scorers, each with 24 points. Still-injured Alexey Shved of Khimki Moscow Region keeps leading the scorers' table at 25.3 points per game. Clyburn led all rebounders by pulling down 11 boards against Efes. Vincent Poirier of KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz is the competition's best rebounder at 7.7 per night. Calathes was the only player in Round 14 to record double digits in assists, dishing 11 against Milan. He is also the regular season assists leader at 8.0 per night. Nikita Kurbanov of CSKA collected 6 steals, doubling his previous career-high, against Efes. He just had collected one steal in 11 previous games this season. Shved also leads the league in steals at 1.8 per night. Walter Tavares of Real Madrid had 4 blocks against FC Bayern Munich and keeps leading the overall standings at 2.1 per night. Clyburn and Calathes were the only players to record double-doubles in Round 14.
