A Quarter with Kyle Hines: Luigi Lamonica provides a referee’s perspective

The legendary retired official offers plenty of insight during a half-hour conversation.

Luigi Lamonica, who decided to call time on a 21-year career as a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague referee after the 2022 Final Four, is the second guest to appear in the fifth season of A Quarter with Kyle Hines. During a 30-minute discussion, Hines and Lamonica reflect on the Italian’s experiences as a referee, what made him want to take up this role in the first place, the best moments from his EuroLeague career, and much more. Over the course of the conversation, Hines – and the wider public – get to hear firsthand about the preparation that goes into becoming a EuroLeague referee and how it isn’t quite as simple as some would imagine.
