7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season - Round 5 co-MVPs: Zoran Dragic and Dereck Willis, ratiopharm Ulm

Not only did ratiopharm Ulm registered its first 7DAYS EuroCup win of the season on Tuesday, but two of its players – Zoran Dragic and Derek Willis, each with a performance index rating of 30 – shared the Round 5 MVP honor. It marks the fourth time in competition history that two teammates topped the list of best performers in a round. Timofey Mozgov and Kelly McCarty were the first to do so, in Top 16 Round 4 of the 2008-09 season. Two years later, also in Top 16 Round 4, Bracey Wright and Damjan Rudez of Cedevita Zagreb did it. Tyrese Rice and James Augustine of Khimki earned co-MVP honors in the second leg of the 2015 semifinals. Most recently, Zygimantas Skucas and Ksystof Lavrinovic of Lietkabelis Panevezys were two of the tri-MVPs in Round 2 of the 2016-17 Regular Season. Dragic scored a career-high 33 points on 5-of-10 two-point, 4-of-7 three-point and 11-of-13 free-throw shooting. Those 33 points are Ulm's new club scoring record. He added 3 rebounds, an assist and 11 fouls drawn for a PIR of 30. Willis had 19 points, making 5 of 8 two-pointers and 3 of 6 triples, and adding a EuroCup season-high 16 rebounds and 5 assists to match Dragic's PIR of 30. John Bostic of Asseco Arka Gdynia came next with a PIR of 29 despite a home loss Galatasaray Doga Sigorta Istanbul. Bostic scored a club-record 33 points for Arka. Martynas Echodas of Rytas Vilnius (28 PIR) and Milos Teodosic of Segafredo Virtus Bologna (27) completed the top individual performances in Regular Season Round 5.

Individual highs: Luca Vitali, Brescia, 11 assists

The 33 points by Dragic and Bostic topped all scorers in Round 5. Klemen Prepelic of Joventut Badalona is the competition's top scorer midway through the regular season with 19.0 points per game. The 16 rebounds by Willis were the most in Round 5. Alan Williams of Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and Johnathan Hamilton of Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul share first place in the rebounding table at 9.2 per night. Luca Vitali of Germani Brescia Leonessa registered a career-high 11 assists in his team's road win against Nanterre 92. Aaron Craft of Dolomiti Energia Trento is the competition's assists leader at 7.6 per game. Sammy Majia of Tofas Bursa collected 5 steals this week. Anthony Clemmons of Arka Gydnia averages 3.2 steals to lead that category. Williams and Mitchell Watt of Venice each had 4 blocks in Round 5. Hamilton is the best shot-blocker in the EuroCup until now at 2.2 per game. Three players – Willis, Kerem Kanter of Joventut (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Semaj Christon of Limoges CSP (11 points, 10 assists) – registered double-doubles in Round 5.
