7DAYS EuroCup Top 16 - Round 4 MVP: Loukas Mavrokefalidis, Promitheas Patras

At age 35, one of the top performers historically in the 7DAYS EuroCup, center Loukas Mavrokefalidis, re-emerged at the perfect moment to lift Promitheas Patras to a crucial road win and earn the Top 16 Round 4 MVP honor in the process. Mavrokefalidis poured in 28 points and ripped 13 rebounds as Promitheas blasted host Umana Reyer Venice 52-70 on Tuesday. He hit 6 of 11 two-pointers, 3 of 7 triples and 7 of 8 free throws while also drawing 9 fouls to amass a performance index rating of 37. His 6 offensive and 13 total rebounds matched his career highs, but not his points or PIR, which were merely his fourth-highest totals in 72 EuroCup games over seven seasons with six teams. In fact, Mavrokefalidis shares the competition record with a 55 PIR he recorded on October 14, 2015, while playing for AEK Athens. After him this week, two players tied with PIRs of 30 each: Devin Williams of Tofas Bursa and Julian Gamble of Segafredo Virtus Bologna. Williams scored 29 points and pulled 9 rebounds in his team's 91-76 win over Joventut Badalona. Gamble led Virtus with 21 points and 11 rebounds to defeat Dolomiti Energia Trento 94-70 at home. Completing the top five individual performances of the week were Galatasaray Doga Sigorta Istanbul's Aaron Harrison (29) and Rasid Mahalbasic of EWE Baskets Oldenburg (28).

Individual highs: Baris Ermis, Tofas, 13 assists

Harrison and Mavrokefalidis led all scorers this week with 28 points each. Errick McCollum of UNICS leads all scorers this season with an average of 17.4 points per game and is also best in the Top 16 at 20.5 on average. His 13 rebounds made Mavrokefalidis the best in that category in Top 16 Round 4. Mahalbasic of Oldenburg is averaging 9.3 rebounds to lead everyone in the Top 16. Baris Ermis of Tofas Bursa was the best passer this week with a personal-best 13 assists, which tied for him for the fourth-highest single-game total ever in the competition. All-time EuroCup leader Stefan Markovic has the highest assist rate in the Top 16 so far, with 7.0 per game. Five players collected 3 steals apiece this week: Rade Zagorac of Partizan NIS Belgrade, Dee Bost and Wilfred Yeguete of AS Monaco, Xabi Lopez-Arostegui of Joventut and Carlos Suarez of Unicaja Malaga. Aaron Craft of Trento is both the Top 16 (1.5 per game) and full-season (2.8) steals leader. Berkan Durmaz of Tofas, Bonzie Colson of Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul and Alex Poythress of Galatasaray all had 3 blocks in this round. Gamble of Virtus is the Top 16 blocks leader with 1.5 per game.
